i am a runner

i have been running for about 9 years now.

i have ran lots of 5Ks.
i have even ran a half marathon.

a 5K bauer and i did when bo was 4 months old.  i have never experienced so much pain and fun at the same time.
he never trained and had a better time than me.

i have always enjoyed running.
but, when it wasn't fun
or i was too tired
or i had too much to do
i would not run for a while.
so i never considered myself a runner.

last week i was running uphill, pushing bo christian in a jogging stroller on a windy day.  for the split second that both of my feet were off the ground, i was sure that i was going backward more than i was going forward.  i knew i could walk faster than i was running.  it was in that moment that i realized i am a runner.

a picture bauer took of us while he was on his ripstick last weekend.

my point is that just because you don't do it the way "they say you are supposed to" doesn't mean you aren't.

another cake adventure

last friday night husband was working late.
it was a friday-fancy-frozen-pizza kind of night.
that left time to make a cake.

connor was in charge of turning the mixer on and off.
bronson was in charge of the dry ingredients.
i had the baby on my hip while i stood between them.
apparently we like to bake really close together.

we made a perfectly chocolate chocolate cake.
i used the recipe off the back of the hershey's cocoa container.
it was really delicious.
very moist and chocolatey.
the frosting is my new favorite frosting.
i was surprised it turned out so well.

bo christian liked it too.
i think this must be his first birthday cake choice.

now i need to try a different cake to make.
suggestions???

sweet boys

bo christian decided to not take his afternoon nap.
so, i decided we would walk to school at dismissal to get bronson and connor.

i *love* to walk home with them.
the boys will tell me all about their day.
really, they only tell me about recess.
that is the most important part to them.

connor got bonked on the head with his own soccer ball.
bronson got chased by girls.  of course, he out ran all of them.

as we were walking up the driveway, bronson thanked me for walking up to get them.
then, connor told me he had a gift for me.
here is a picture of the gift and the note that came with it:
"To you mom I got this from the pincel muchine but I didn't like it so I'm giving it to you."

they are both so sweet, but in complete opposite ways.
and they both make me smile in complete opposite ways.
