this is me today.

currently:

 

loving:  our middle school.

i had to talk to the principal yesterday.

(everything is great - no one is in trouble)

she cares so much about the students.

i really can't believe how lucky we are with the boys' schools.

 

reading:  The Mission of Motherhood.

it is the best book i've read on parenting/mothering.
it has put into words what i have always felt in my heart.

some of my girlfriends and i are doing an informal study of the book.

(v - when we finish you will be getting a copy)

 

waiting for:  spring!

 

 

 

a few days ago it was sort-of warm outside.

i opened the kitchen window and bo christian stood there for the longest time talking to the dog.

 

excited about:  i am doing a lenten Bible study.
sometimes i miss using my brain
and having conversations about things other than kids.
bo christian will stay in the nursery for the first time.
i think he will really enjoy it.

 

trying to:  teach myself to crochet.

i'm not very motivated so it's taking a while.
and my boys keep stealing my yarn.

enjoying:  alaska the wild frontier.
it is amazing to me how this family is self sufficient.
and how they wear jackets in the summer!?!
and shoot squirrels with a gun inside their home. 
husband and i watch an episode every night after we put the boys to bed.
what did we ever do before cable tv?
 

planning:  well, next week is a big one!
fat tuesday - need to make a king cake.
then ash wednesday.
and valentine's day.

wrestling every single night currently.

wanting: umm...

i really try to not want stuff.  i want to be happy with what i have.

but, there are some sandals at the mall i might need.

and some bright colored shoes would be nice.

and a bright colored belt.

i'm craving color right now.

listening to:  bo christian is singing himself to sleep
while the big boys play with my yarn.
and the dryer.

yes, our grill has a hole in the back of it.

you have to be very intelligent - like my husband - to use it.

and yes, that is a coffee pot setting on it.

in the middle of winter.

 

all because

i can't stand the smell of coffee.

and neither can my boys.

husband smells nasty after he drinks it.

coffee breath is just awful.
and it even makes our house stink too.

 

bauer decided that coffee is

daddy's defense system.
since we all stay away when he drinks the stuff.

and because of that husband has been making his coffee in the backyard

in a mug with a lid

in the freezing cold.

 

oh how that man loves us!

super bowl sunday

yesterday afternoon we walked to the park.

it was still cold outside, but the magnificent sun was out.

 

handsome.

while husband and i sat on a bench watching our boys,

the wind stopped and the warm sun was beating down on my face.

it felt like God was heating me up with his love.

it felt nice.

i sat still to soak up the moment.

my man was right beside me, our boys all around us and God was there with us too.

a great sunday afternoon.

 

just shove a brother up there if you don't have a ball.

all weekend i struggled with who to root for in the super bowl.

i know a huge decision...

husband was for the 49ers.

i like the ravens because of michael oher - you know, because of his movie.

but once i saw the teams uniforms i had to go with the ravens.

i just couldn't expect boys that wore skin tight gold pants to win.

bauer and i were the only ones cheering for the ravens.

we did pick the best team.

 

it's not unusual for us to sit just like this.
guess we all like each other.

in case you missed it - the head coaches of the 2 teams were brothers.

can you imagine being their mother???

it brought up a good conversation for us.

 

an exhausted bo christian laid down with connor just long enough to watch the half time show.
